Information on the use of cookies
The Cookies Law started as an EU Directive that was adopted by all EU countries in May 2011. The Directive gave individuals rights to refuse the use of cookies that reduce their online privacy. Each country then updated its own laws to comply. In Italy this meant an update to the Privacy Code (Informativa ex art. 13 Codice della Privacy – Provv. del Garante 08/05/2014). For information about our use of personal data, please read our privacy policy (link)
Cookies are pieces of data, normally stored in text files, that websites place on visitors’ computers to store a range of information, usually specific to that visitor – or rather the device they are using to view the site – like the browser or mobile phone.
Session and Persistent Cookies Session Cookies are only stored temporarily in the browser’s memory, and are destroyed when it is closed down, although they will survive navigating away from the website they came from. Persistent cookies are also used to track visitor behaviour as you move around a site, and this data is used to try and understand what people do and don’t like about a site so it can be improved. Technical and Profiling Cookies Technical cookies are used for the sole purpose of transmitting a communication on an electronic communications network or, as strictly necessary, for sending to the provider of a service of a company the information explicitly requested by the subscriber or user to deliver that service” (see art. 122 paragraph 1 of the Italian privacy code). Cookies can be defined as browsing or session cookies (that guarantee normal browsing and use of the web site), cookie analytics (assimilated with technical cookies where they are used directly by the site operator to collect information, in aggregate form, on the number of users and on how they visit the same site) and functionality cookies (these allow the user to navigating according to a set of criteria, such as language, in order to improve the service provided to the same). Profiling cookies are used to send advertising messages in line with the preferences expressed by the user in the context of browsing the net. First and Third Party Cookies First party cookies are only set or retrieved by the website while you are visiting it, so they cannot normally be used to track activity or pass data from one site to another. If the host domain for a cookie is different to the one in the browser bar when it was downloaded, then it is a third party cookie. They are usually placed in a website via scripts or tags added into the web page. Sometimes these scripts will also bring additional functionality to the site, such as enabling content to be shared via social networks.
Almost all modern browsers provide ways for you to control how your computer handles cookies. This includes the ability to block all or different types of cookies – and preventing them from being placed on your machine in the first place. They also enable you to delete the cookies that you already have. However each browser is different – and some offer more fine-grained control than others, or at least control that is easier to find. We suggest you to check the website Your online choices.
You can enable cookies by closing the information banner on every page of the website, or clicking any element of this page. If you do not see any banner information means that the terminal you are using someone has already agreed to the treatment.
